The ESL Oral History Project , "Learning English, Living in English" is the first project developed by The Jersey City Memory Project at the Jersey City Free Public Library. This collection comprises interviews and photos of teachers and students of ESL from the Learning Center at the JCFPL. This memory project was designed to present the multifaceted identities of the participants, and to bring to light the experiences of both English language learners in the US and their teachers of ESL. These recorded interviews illustrate the perseverance and intellectual contributions of this community of learners in tandem with their struggles dealing with immigration, adopting English in daily life and adapting to a new culture and community.
